Martin Deleixhe (CTP) and David Paternotte (STRIGES) have published an edited volume on a new conservative mobilization: anti-wokism.

In recent years, the French-speaking world has been swept up in a whirlwind of books about wokism. Journalists, essayists, academics, and political figures have felt an urgent need to warn the public about the dangers they associate with the fight against discrimination or the defense of the rights of a rainbow of minorities.

Why such enthusiasm? Why have these publications emerged so suddenly and in such large numbers? The aim of this book is to better understand this abundance of publications, as well as the debates surrounding them. What are the main arguments put forward? Which voices promote them? What networks do these actors operate in? And how do these ideas circulate? Through an in-depth study of the composite set of ideas and slogans gathered under the banner of anti-wokism, this book sheds light on their genealogy, the composition of the coalitions of actors promoting them, and their international circulation.

This book deliberately avoids approaching wokism and anti-wokism as mirror images, as if they were two similar social phenomena responding to one another. Rather than viewing anti-wokism as a critical reaction to wokism, this study seeks to understand the worldview that anti-wokism promotes and the forms of mobilization it makes possible.
