Appel à contributions "Langues et trajectoires en migration"
Call for Papers: Languages and Trajectories in Migration
Calendar and Modalities: https://journals.openedition.org/remi/32191
Going beyond questions of identity and intergenerational transmission that have often dominated research on languages in migration, this topical collection examines the symbolic and material dimensions of language in relation to immigrants’ trajectories across multiple dimensions of their migratory, social, professional, and administrative lives. Drawing on three perspectives (socialization and language practices, public policy, and professional mobility), and focusing on individual trajectories, it explores the interplay between national origin, social position, local space, political context, forms of categorization, and linguistic resources, language practices and strategies. It approaches these trajectories as plural and dynamic, while foregrounding the linguistic dimensions that shape them. This topical collection brings together empirical studies from various social science disciplines, conducted in France and abroad.
