Marie Kervyn
Marie Kervyn is a lecturer in Early Modern History within the Department of History, Arts and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of ULB. Previously, she served as a professor of Early Modern History and coordinator of the Universal History section at the University of Costa Rica.
Her research focuses on the southern regions of the Habsburg Netherlands during the Early Modern period. More specifically, it examines issues related to the reception of migrants, foreignness, identity, and the (self-)definition of individuals. This work contributes to a process of reassessing, breaking down boundaries, and confronting historiographical traditions emerging from the successor states of the Spanish Empire and the Kingdom of France, but not exclusively.
