Serge Lemaitre

As part of his doctoral research, he studied more than a hundred rock art sites in the Canadian Shield and, on that occasion, also discovered three previously unknown rock painting sites. He continued his research in Canada in collaboration with Daniel Arseneault for more than fifteen years.

He also had the opportunity to work for seven years on the study of an exceptional rock engraving site in the northern Syrian desert. He later joined the Belgian archaeological team on Easter Island, where he conducted four years of research.

In parallel, he curated several international-level exhibitions on the First Nations of North America, Paleolithic art, and more recently on textiles and adornments from Peru for the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels, Belgium. Since 2014, he has served there as curator of the Americas collections.
