Serge Jaumain is full professor of Contemporary History at the ULB, where he was vice-rector for international relations for ten years .His teachings include the history of North America. President of the Scientific Council of the AUF (Agence universitaire de la francophonie) and former President of the International Council for Canadian Studies and the Association international d’études canadiennes, he has received various distinctions, including the Canadian Governor General's International Award (2005). His research focuses on the history of Francophone migration in North America, the history of tourism and European/Canadian relations. He has written or edited some thirty books, many of which deal with Canada in a comparative perspective.
