Michel Dahan
Chercheur postdoctoral
Michel Dahan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Université libre de Bruxelles and a member of the AmericaS Centre. His research focuses on transatlantic circulations between Europe and North America. His current project, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and by Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI), examines the beginnings of the tourism industry. It particularly looks at the networks developed with Europe by North American travel agencies between 1866 and 1939.
In 2022, Michel completed his doctorate in history at the Université de Montréal where he was also a lecturer. His doctoral thesis examined the devotion to martyrs of the Roman catacombs and the circulation of their relics in Canada. More broadly, his research interests include Canada’s cultural and religious history, transatlantic networks, and the history of modern tourism, devotions, and pilgrimages.
