Maria Mancilla Garcia

María Mancilla Garcia holds the Chair in Environmental Humanities, is Director of the SONYA Research Unit (SociO-eNvironmental dYnamics), and is a lecturer at the Faculty of Science. Her work focuses on socio-environmental dynamics, particularly power relations and conflicts in participatory environmental governance.

She develops relational approaches, drawing on methodologies inspired by the arts and on social networks. She holds a PhD in Development Studies and has mainly worked in Latin America, particularly in Brazil and Peru.
