Karine Hébert is a Professor of History at the Université du Québec à Rimouski. A specialist in women’s history, youth — notably in Impatient d’être soi-même (PUQ, 2008) — and heritage, she explores the dynamics of identity, memory, and representation.

A member of the Archipel Research Group and the Centre interuniversitaire d’études québécoises, she situates her work within a broader reflection on regional realities, with particular attention to the place of women in local and regional history. Her current research focuses on the Sisters of the Holy Rosary congregation and the conversion of their mother house in Rimouski.

Actively engaged in public life, she served as Vice-President of the Institut d’histoire de l’Amérique française (2015–2025) and as a member of its Public Engagement Committee, where she contributed to highlighting the role of historians in public debate.
