Inhwa JEON-KOSOVA

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Inhwa JEON-KOSOVA pursued studies in literature and comparative literature at the Sorbonne before joining the doctoral program in Languages, Literature and Translation Studies at the Université libre de Bruxelles, where she is affiliated with the Philixte research group. Her research focuses on the representation of Korea in French and Francophone literature since 1945.

Her work is rooted in Francophone comparative literature and adopts a distinctly interdisciplinary approach, combining imagology, geocriticism, and post-imperial theory. She analyzes literary and graphic discourses on the Korean peninsula, considering the cultural and historical contexts in which they are embedded. Her dissertation examines geocritical ties between Korea and French and Francophone literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, exploring how Korea is perceived, represented, and reimagined in contemporary Francophone literary imagination.

Passionate about art and literature, she is particularly interested in the dialogues and contrasts between works from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Working in French, Korean, and English, she strives to build bridges between languages and imaginations through in-depth translation, analysis, and contextual interpretation. Her aim is to offer readers a window onto lesser-known works, highlighting the richness of literary exchange between East and West.
