Iadine Degryse

Iadine Degryse holds a degree in History (UCM Madrid, 2014) and in Population and Development Sciences (ULB Brussels, 2016). She has carried out several research projects for the Brussels Studies Institute (BSI), notably on toponymy, the comic strip murals of the Brussels Comic Strip Route, and contested symbols such as the bust of Roger Nols in Schaerbeek.

In December 2024, she was awarded an FRESH FNRS grant to pursue a PhD on the contestation of memorial traces in public space in Brussels since the Second World War. This research is conducted under joint supervision in History (ULB, supervised by Prof. Serge Jaumain, MSH/AmericaS) and in Political Science (UCLouvain, supervised by Prof. Valérie Rosoux, ISPOLE).

Iadine Degryse is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Museum of the City of Brussels, an expert within the Brussels Comic Strip Committee, and an expert within the Ixelles Advisory Commission on Toponymy (CCIT). Her most recent publications address the management of contested symbols in Brussels’ public space (Vaesen, J., Jaumain, S., Degryse, I., Jacobs, D., Wayens, B.
