Franca Bellarsi

Lecturer in languages and literature

Franca Bellarsi is Associate Professor within the Department of Languages and Literatures. Her research interests and publications are equally divided between the Beat Generation, ecocriticism, and Romantic Studies. She has especially explored the circulations between Beat writing and English Romanticism, on the one hand, and between Beat literature and various forms of mysticism, on the other. As an ecocritic, her focus is on ecopoetry, ecopoetics and ecospirituality. Besides rereadings of the Beats’ contribution to environmental consciousness and aesthetics, she is also currently investigating "animal circulations" as well as more radical forms of ecopoetic experimentation on both sides of the US-Canadian border.
