Laurence Brogniez

Professor of Literary History and Comparative Literature

Laurence Brogniez is a full professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles, where she teaches literary history and comparative literature. In her thesis, published by Champion under the title Préraphaélisme et Symbolisme : peinture littéraire et image poétique (2003), she tackled the question of the relationship between painting and literature in the Symbolist period. She has edited several collective volumes (Ecrits voyageurs: les artistes et l'ailleurs, Peter Lang, 2012; Ceci n'est pas un titre. Les artistes et l'intitulation, Fage, 2014; Entretiens d'artistes, Vrin, 2015; L'artiste en revues, Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2019) and participated in the organisation of exhibitions (Pulsion(s), 2012; En route! Sur les traces des artistes belges en voyage, 2014, Musée Rops; Fleurs lascives, 2017, Musée Rops). Her research also focuses on the cultural history of Brussels, and more particularly on the literary geography of Brussels and artists' studios.
