Hamid Sayf Shemsulden

Académique

I hold a PhD in Letters, Languages, and Translation Studies from ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles), where I wrote my thesis entitled The Presence of the Other in Iraqi Jewish Literature.

My academic background also includes a Master's degree in Modern Languages and Letters, Oriental specialization, with a focus on the Arab-Muslim world (advanced level), obtained at ULB. Having grown up in Iraq and completed my elementary, secondary, and undergraduate studies in that country, I possess a deep understanding of Arabic language, history, and literature, from the pre-Islamic era to the present day.

Currently, I teach evening Arabic courses at ULB (Continuing Education), using the syllabi I wrote and published. This role has honed my ability to teach complex linguistic and cultural concepts. Additionally, I have a command of Hebrew (A2 level), which allows me to read the language, and I can also read Sabean, further enhancing my research skills in ancient Arabic. I also have a basic knowledge of Dutch (B1 level).
