PhD Student

Elsa Maarawi is a PhD student at the University of Picardie Jules Verne. After obtaining a Master's degree in International Cooperation in 2010, she worked in the humanitarian and development field, in the Middle East, Chad and Haiti, with several international organizations. Since 2017, she has specialized in gender issues in migration and development projects. Since 2020, she is conducting a thesis on the migration paths of Syrians who fled the conflict after 2011. Her research questions the effects and experiences of migration on the reconfiguration of gender roles within and outside families, considering the role of humanitarian agencies and public policies.
