Join the MSH-ULB
ULB's Maison des sciences humaines is a structure for hosting research teams on the basis of interdisciplinary projects relating mainly to the humanities and social sciences. In addition to the coordination team, it is made up of integrated research teams and affiliated research teams.
Integrated teams
Researchers can come together around a common problem or methodology, of an interdisciplinary nature, on the basis of an innovative research project, and together constitute a new research entity integrated into the MSH. A call for applications is open every two years, allowing these teams to form for a period of four years, which may be renewable. Applications are evaluated by international experts and selected by an independent commission.
In 2019-2020, the MSH-ULB has 5 integrated teams, AmericaS, EASt, LIEU, OMAM and STRIGES. The next call will be opened in December 2020 (for integration in September 2021).
Affiliated teams
Existing research entities or former integrated teams may be affiliated to the MSH on the basis of their previous work, its quality, its interdisciplinary dimension and its societal implications. A call for applications is open to ULB teams each year, which allows affiliated teams to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of their work and to benefit from part of the MSH structures.
In 2019-2020, the MSH-ULB has 5 affiliated teams (CDP, CHDAJ, CIERL, CreA-Patrimoine, CTP). The next call will be opened in April 2020 (for affiliation in October 2020).
Individual researchers
ULB's Maison des Sciences Humaines also welcomes individual researchers. Every year, several professors are invited to the MSH at the request of the teams that make it up. Visiting researchers, especially refugees or those in difficult situations in their country of origin, can also be welcomed on an individual basis. These requests must be addressed directly to the MSH and are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, depending in particular on the material conditions of reception.
