Yael Navaro

Yael Navaro is Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge where she has been teaching since 1999. She has many years of experience doing anthropological work in Cyprus, as well as in Istanbul and Antakya, Turkey. Her publications include Faces of the State: Secularism and Public Life in Turkey (2002), The Make-Believe Space: Affective Geography in a Postwar Polity (2012) and the co-edited Reverberations: Violence Across Time and Space (2021). She is known for her work on state practices, postwar environments and memory and affect after catastrophe.
