Vladimir Semenoff
Vladimir Semenoff is a PhD candidate, holding a Master’s degree in History (2022, ULB) as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Slavic Studies (2024, ULB). His doctoral research focuses on the industrialization of the Donbas region by Western powers between 1880 and 1920.
By returning to the origins of the economic development of the Don basin, he seeks to understand the transformation of a previously sparsely populated steppe into an international industrial hub. More than an industrial history, this project aims to describe the relationships built over the decades between local labor and foremen from Europe.
The study of the trajectories of these men and women will shed new light on the history of the Donbas and its relationship with others.
