Onur Erdur is a historian at Humboldt University of Berlin specialising in intellectual history, migration history, and modern political thought. He received his PhD in history from the University of Zurich and served as Assistant Professor at Humboldt University of Berlin. He has held various visiting professorships and fellowships. From October 2026, he will be a Fellow at the KWI (Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities) in Essen.

His most recent publication, School of the South: The Colonial Roots of French Theory, is forthcoming with Polity Press in 2026 and argues that twentieth-century French thought was profoundly shaped by its authors’ encounters with French colonialism in North Africa.
