Mimy Keomanichanh
Mimy Keomanichanh is an anthropologist with a PhD from Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Drawing on multi-sited ethnographic research, her doctoral dissertation examines heterosexual Belgian-Laotian couples residing in Belgium and Laos. This research introduces the concept of “emotional scripts” as an analytical framework for understanding the intimate negotiations and emotional experiences of these couples.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher on the AspirE project, where she analyses the temporality and emotional dimensions of (non-)migration decision-making among Asian migrants residing in Belgium, as well as the role of their social networks (personal ties) in shaping these decisions.
Research interests: conjugality, marriage, emotions, and migration (Asia and Europe).
