Christina Bezari
Christina Bezari is a postdoctoral researcher at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her research lies at the intersection of Spanish and comparative literature, translation studies, and women’s history. She is the author of the book Transnational Modernity in Southern Europe: Women’s Periodicals and Salon Culture (Routledge, 2023) and co-editor of the volume Las Vanguardistas: Women and the Avant-Garde in Ibero-America (2022). Her current project offers a comparative study of modernism in Spain and Belgium and examines transnational literary networks of the early 20th century.
Christina worked at Ghent University between 2016 and 2023. She was a member of the ERC-funded project Agents of Change: Women Editors and Socio-Cultural Transformation in Europe. At the end of her PhD, she received funding for a postdoctoral project entitled Las Vanguardistas: Spanish Women Poets and the International Avant-Garde, during which she traveled to Argentina, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United States as a guest lecturer.
Her articles have been published in three languages (English, Spanish, and French) and have examined women’s participation in avant-garde movements, cultural flows and translations in early 20th-century periodicals, and women’s literature in Spain, Portugal, and South America. In 2017, she co-led the project Les imaginaires de la traduction at Sorbonne University, Paris-IV.
