Bruno Leipold

Bruno Leipold is a political theorist and historian of political thought with a focus on the work of Karl Marx, the republican political tradition and theories of popular democracy. From September 2025 he will be an Assistant Professor in Political Theory at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he is currently a Fellow.
His book Citizen Marx: Republicanism and the Formation of Karl Marx’s Social and Political Thought was published in November 2024 with Princeton University Press.
Before coming to LSE he was a Fellow at The New Institute in Hamburg, a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and a Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Theory at the Justitia Amplificata Centre for Advanced Studies at the Goethe University Frankfurt and the Free University of Berlin. He completed his PhD at the University of Oxford.
