Adeline Heck
Chargée de recherches FNRS
Adeline Heck holds a doctorate in French literature. Her academic specialty centers on the study of nineteenth-century French literature and its interactions with opera and vocal music. Her past experience in opera performance has informed her research, resulting in an interdisciplinary dissertation entitled Under the Spell of Wagner: The Revue Wagnérienne and Literary Experimentation in the Belle Epoque (1878-1893), which she defended in 2020 at Princeton University. Of dual French and American heritage, she has published in journals of literature and musicology both in French and in English. In 2022, she is starting a three-year residency as a postdoctoral researcher at ULB under the FNRS. Her research project focuses on the Bayreuth Festival as a place of artistic pilgrimage and examines the writings of its Francophone attendees at the turn of the century.
