Workshop "Linking Translation Data"

27/01/2026

with Adrienn Gulyás, Agnieszka Podpora, Magdalena Heydel, Martina Mecco, Michał Mrugalski, Quintus Immisch di Padua, Tomasz Krupa & Petra James

The workshop will bring together researchers of Czech, German, Hungarian, and Polish literature to explore innovative ways of connecting translation research across linguistic and national borders, with a particular focus on translations from Belgian and Francophone literatures.

The aim is to discuss how quantitative, qualitative, hermeneutic, and bibliometric approaches can be combined to analyze translational circulations, reception, and comparability across different literary traditions.

A central objective of the meeting is to take stock of ongoing and completed projects dealing with translation databases and to identify next steps toward federating these relational datasets in a linked open data environment. In this context, we plan to devote special attention to the potential of Wikidata as a shared framework that could enable multilingual interoperability and enhance the visibility of national translation research.

The event is designed as a space for methodological dialogue and technical collaboration, with the aim of fostering lasting connections among scholars engaged in Central European literary translation research.
