with more than 70 scholars in East Asian Studies from all Belgian universities

For the first time, EASt and ULB bring together researchers in East Asian Studies from both the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking communities of Belgium. The aim is to take stock of and map current research in East Asian Studies (China, Taiwan, Japan, and Koreas), while laying the foundations for the creation of an academic network and an annual conference.

The primary objectives of the symposium are to provide an overview of current research activities, foster interdisciplinary exchanges and collaborations, and identify shared research interests and opportunities. The event will also serve as a platform for strengthening academic connections across institutions and linguistic communities, while laying the foundations for a sustainable Belgian network in East Asian Studies and the establishment of an annual conference.
East Asian Studies here mostly include Koreas, China, Taiwan and Japan studies.

Each participant will be given 5 minutes to present a current research project. A programme will be available soon.
