Rodrigo Cruz

Scientific collaborator

Rodrigo Cruz is a scientific collaborator at the Gender(s) and Sexuality(s) Workshop (AGS), Institut de Sociologie. Previously, he was a contract researcher (April - October 2023) and a guest researcher (between November 2020 and May 2021) as part of the International Certificate of Training for Doctoral Research (CIRD). In 2023, he completed his doctoral thesis in Sociology at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL, Portugal) on the activism of right-wing gay men in Brazil (funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia de Portugal - FCT). He also holds a master's degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp, Brazil). His research lies at the intersection of the sociology of social movements (notably the mobilizations of conservative and liberal movements), the sociology of gender and sexuality, digital sociology and Brazilian and European politics. He is also interested in the history and memory of the LGBTIQ+ movement in Brazil, decolonial issues and the intersection between the sociology of culture and political sociology. In recent years, he has also collaborated with civil society organizations working on LGBTIQ+ issues in Brazil and Europe.
