Nolwenn Salmon is currently an EAST/GENEsYs postdoctoral fellow at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her research interest lies in the role of citizens in China’s ecological transition and the evolution of social norms generated by the environmental crisis, in particular the emergence and diffusion of new values and models of society. In 2016, at INALCO (Paris), Nolwenn submitted her PhD entitled « Engaged Journalists in China: Environmental Critics Balancing Acceptance and Refusal of Politics », for which she won two prizes: one in literature and human sciences, the Piedallu Philoche prize 2017 awarded by the Chancellery of the Universities in Paris, and one in Chinese studies: the second PhD Thesis award 2017 of the French Association of Chinese Studies (AFEC) ex æquo. She also taught Chinese language and society at INALCO and Rennes 2 University (France). Her current project focuses on Chinese urban youth who decided to resettle in the countryside to undertake alternative agricultural projects and develop eco-friendly « intentional communities ».
