Ingrid van Marion

Senior researcher

She once was a post-doc involved in molecular genetics studies after obtaining a PhD in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Birmingham (UK), but decided that a scientific career in social sciences is a nice challenge too. She did her Master studies in Science Communication at the TU Delft (NL) and has been trying to promote professionalization of Science Communication in Belgium ever since. She likes to organize evidence-based training for PhD candidates or others who are interested, and is one of the founders of the BE.SciComm network. After 2 years as a collaboratrice scientifique, she's now a full-time researcher on a project funded by Belspo, that will create the foundations for a Belgian Pandemic Intelligence Network (BE-PIN). within this project she collaborates with Sébastien De Valeriola and David Domingo. Her research focusses on scientific expertise, knowledge-brokering, evidence-informed policy-making (EIPM), and other communication practices that are related to connecting actors with a different science knowledge background (which include scientists, policy makers, journalists, health professionals, public interest groups, etc.).
