Eline Delmarcelle

Eline Delmarcelle is a PhD Candidate at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University (Tokyo) and visiting researcher at EASt. After obtaining B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology, she pursued her MA in Political Sciences at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and was awarded a magna cum laude for her MA thesis on the cultural diplomacy of Japan and its portrayal of Japan as a homogeneous society. Her PhD research project focuses on citizenship aquisition in Japan and Belgium and specifically on how new citizens identify in their country of citizenship in relationship with national narratives of each country.
