EASt-ULB PhD Seminar 2018 Vol. 2
by Quentin Blaevoet, Universite? de Lille 3
In this presentation, I will try to show how the Tanabean conception of the end of philosophy points towards the same direction as Husserlian and Nishidian philosophy in three steps. First, I will de ne Tanabe’s concept of "metanoesis", thereby showing its signi cance to the eld of philosophy. Second, I will relate this notion to the notion of the "end of history". Finally, I will conlude that Tanabe shares his view with Husserl and Nishida that the purpose of philosophy is to constitute a common social world that could save us from what is widely understood today as a "crisis of humanity".
