Philippine Studies Network-Belgium invites you to a showing of the documentary Kingmaker (2019), produced by Laura Greenfield (nominated for the 2019 London Film Festival), following the political lives and return to power of Imelda Marcos, wife of Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, and their son, Bongbong. The film seeks to ask: In a world of stark contrasts between rich and poor, powerless and powerful, lies and facts – what can we learn about democracy and the role of truth? The film will be followed by a short discussion.
