Gábor Vargyas is cultural anthropologist specialised in Southeast-Asian and Pacific studies. He has made long-term fieldwork among the Bru (Van Kieu) in the Central Vietnamese Highlands. He is scientific councillor at the Institute of Ethnology, Research Center for the Humanities, Eötvös Lórnd Research Network (formerly Hungarian Academy of Sciences) and Professor in Anthropology and Head of the Doctoral Program, Department of European Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, University of Pécs, Hungary. He is author of “A la recherche des Brou perdus” (2000) and a number of articles on the Bru/Brou.
