To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Center for East Asian Studies (EASt), at the Université libre de Bruxelles, is bringing together those who have been part of its journey over the years: current and former members, researchers, students, collaborators, partners and friends.

This anniversary is a chance to look back on ten years of research, encounters and shared projects, but above all to come together again and celebrate. Throughout the day, interdisciplinary conversations will be joined by presentations of books and research projects, an alumni roundtable, exhibitions, films and performances. The day will also provide an opportunity to discuss the ups and downs of ‘area studies’ as applied to East Asia, alongside Adam Chau (University of Cambridge) and Benjamin Baumann (Heidelberg University), specialists in China and Southeast Asia, respectively.

We hope the day will offer plenty of opportunities to reconnect, exchange ideas and enjoy being together, while also opening up conversations about the future of EASt. A celebration of the people, ideas and collaborations that have shaped the centre over the past decade, and of everything still to come.
