Dans le cadre de l’ARC Révolution sexuelle et (dé)pilarisation de 1960 à 2000 : Une spécificité belge ? Contribution à une histoire des normes de genre et de sexualité.

Ayant pour objet la sexualité, la sexologie est un ensemble de savoirs et de pratiques ayant vocation à réguler et/ou à transformer l’ordre social en définissant les normes prévalant dans l’intimité. Elle est à ce titre un outil puissant pour les idéologies. Elle véhicule des savoirs et met en œuvre des pratiques en adéquation avec des doctrines, des systèmes de pensée ou des dogmes. Cette question des rapports entre sexologie et idéologie apparaît particulièrement pertinente dans le contexte de l’après Seconde Guerre mondiale, alors que la discipline connaît un double processus de  professionnalisation et d’institutionnalisation. Having for object sexuality, sexology is a set of knowledge and practices having vocation to regulate or transform social order by defining the norms prevailing in the intimacy. As such, it is a powerful tool for ideologies. It conveys knowledge and implements practices in line with doctrines, systems of thought or dogmas. This question of the relationship between sexology and ideology seems particularly relevant in the post-Second World War context, when sexology undergoes a process of professionalization and institutionalization
