Nadine Loutfi

Title of the PhD thesis “The Triangular Relation Between China, The United States and Saudi Arabia: The Strategic Issues of the Sino-Saudi Cooperation vis-a-vis the U.S. Strategy in the Middle East”. Nadine is a doctorate at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. The purpose of her doctoral thesis is to study the trilateral relationship between China, The United States and Saudi Arabia. It analyses the behavioural effet of a third state caused by the interaction of two states in bilateral relationship.
Prior to her admittance to the PhD program, she obtained an Honours Master in Political Science, International Relations with a focus on peace, security and conflicts from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2022. Her master thesis focused on emerging concepts in International Relations namely, “the Internal and external” naval strategies of the U.S. in the South China Sea, where she had the opportunity to interview the former director of intelligence and information operations for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Captain James Fanell. Nadine’s future goal is to study triangular relationship between three major international actors in the field of IR to understand the behaviour of states.
Research interests: Triangular relation approach in IR, China, Middle East, United States foreign policy.
