Seio Nakajima teaches sociology and Asian studies at the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University. He has conducted organizational analyses of the Chinese film industry, as well as ethnographies of Chinese independent film audiences. His recent publications include: ‘Official Chinese film awards and film festivals: History, configuration and transnational Legitimation’ (Journal of Chinese Cinemas, 2019), ‘The sociability of millennials in cyberspace: A comparative analysis of barrage subtitling in Nico Nico Douga and Bilibili’ (Frangville and Gaffric, eds. 2019), and ‘Studies of Chinese cinema in Japan’ (Journal of Chinese Film Studies, 2021).
