Oriana Virone

Oriana has always been passionate about cinemas and different cultures. This led her to study at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where she graduated in Global Cinemas and the Transcultural. There, she grew and nourished her interest in East Asian cinema, and particularily in South Korean cinema. She has since started writing for the website Asian Movie Pulse, as well as worked for various film festivals, on different cinematic projects and for a cinema-centered charity. Her research explores female characters and the place of women in current South Korean cinema. Her interests include contemporary South Korean society and cinema, identity and gender on screen, transnationality and transculturality of cinema, cinema used as a tool for change.
